Hello everyone,
this is not directly related to my work but somehow it is. I hope it is ok with all of you to share this here with you. Narayan is one of my best friends, if not my best friend and we go over a decade back sharing life and music together. When I received the message from him that he went into the hospital I totally froze. I suddenly realized how important he is in my life. Imagining to lose him was an unbearable feeling. I was sitting with that for many days and I saw that Narayan is one of the few human beings in my life who really sees me but not just that but loves me simply for who I am. With all my errors and flaws and with my light. It is so precious to have people like this in our lives. I do not have many of these people close to me and losing one of them would have been very sad. Not just for me but for many people who know him more deeply and intimately.I created a Gofundme Campaign for him and you can read about Narayan’s story below. If you like to support financially or some words and/ or share the link to the campaign, that would be wonderful.

We also love to give you a digital download of the CD ‘CEREMONY’ that Narayan and I recorded together for your generosity and effort. So please reach out to me bettina@bettinamaureenji.com if you would like to receive it.
Thank you so much

Dear friends,
Six weeks ago our dear friend Narayan fell critically ill. After weeks of sickness and multiple trips to the ER, doctors finally discovered that he was suffering from a bacterial blood infection, stemming from an infected root canal which then traveled into his heart and destroyed his mitral valve. This life threatening situation required an emergency open heart surgery to replace the destroyed valve in his heart.
Thankfully the surgery was a success! Narayan remains hospitalized on Oahu until next week and will then be released to come home to Kauai, where his long healing journey will continue. We anticipate that Narayan’s road to recovery from this serious surgery will be incredibly painful and challenging, both physically and mentally. Narayan will not be able to work or care for himself for the next 4-6 months, relying heavily on his loved ones to support him, cook for him, and help with simple daily tasks.
We humbly ask for your support for Narayan through this difficult chapter to ease his financial burden so he can focus on his healing. Narayan has been living in Hawaii for 20 years, the last 10 of which spent on the island of Kauai where he has built an incredible community, he is loved and appreciated by so many. He is a talented musician who brings so much love and light into the world around him. He is a single father to a beautiful 11 year old girl. Narayan has lead a life of service and integrity. He is deeply loved and respected by all who know him. He is an inspiration to his community, a devoted father, and a loyal friend.
This has been a challenging and painfully scary ordeal for Narayan and his family. We are so grateful for his life-saving surgery, and for all the support he has received thus far. We humbly ask for any contribution to ease Narayan’s financial burdens, and enable him to focus solely on recovery. We hope to raise some much needed funds to support this wonderful man through his time of need. All monetary donations will go towards providing basic needs of food, shelter, medical costs and treatments until he can get back on his feet and start providing for himself and his daughter again.
We thank you so much for being a part of this project and for your donation! Every little bit helps, together we can make a big difference in his life! If you live on Kauai and are not able to make a financial contribution, and would like to help out in another way, please reach out to join his meal train or contribute to any other helpful services he may need support with.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your loving support and contributions, blessing his road to recovery.
Sincerely, Bettina Maureenji & Team
